Terms of use
Version 2 · last updated
These terms are between you and [Company name], [Address] ("we"), who run ApneaLab. They apply to the app and to this website. When the app asks you to accept them, it shows this version and its date; by accepting, or by using ApneaLab, you agree to them. Questions go to [Contact email].
1. What ApneaLab is
ApneaLab is a training log and timer for freediving: it keeps your dives and training, shows them back to you, and times breath-hold tables with spoken cues. It is free. You must be 18 or older to use it.
ApneaLab is a training log and timer. It is not a safety or medical device, not a dive computer and not a rescue service. Do not rely on it to keep you safe, to tell you when to surface, or to warn you of danger.
Breath-hold training can make you black out without warning, and a blackout in water can kill.
Never train or dive alone in water. Every breath-hold in water, including in a pool or a bath, needs a trained buddy who is actively watching you the whole time and can rescue you.
You train at your own risk.
2. Training safely
- Do RV tables and other breath-hold tables dry only, never in water. Sit or lie down where you cannot fall or be hurt. Never do them while driving or doing anything else.
- Do not wear a noseclip during a dry static hold, so that your body can breathe again by itself if you black out.
- Do not keep holding to reach a time, a target or a record. Stop when your body tells you to, whatever the screen says.
- A table's cap is not a safe limit. It is only where the app stops counting.
- Timers, sounds and imported figures can fail or be wrong. A phone can be silenced or run out of battery, another app can take over its sound, and a watch file can be misread.
- Learn freediving from a qualified instructor and follow their advice over anything the app shows.
- Ask a doctor before you start if you have any heart, lung or other health condition, or are pregnant.
- Stop at once if you feel unwell.
3. Your data
What you record is yours. How we handle it is in the privacy policy. Keep backups: if your phone is lost or broken and you have no backup, we cannot bring your history back.
4. Coaches
A coach can send you plans and you can send your coach your training. A coach's advice is the coach's own, not ours. Only send a coach what you are happy for them to keep.
5. Using ApneaLab fairly
Do not use the app or our server to break the law, to harm anyone, to reach anyone else's data, or to overload or break the service.
6. Other services
If you connect Garmin, Google Drive or another service, their own terms also apply to what you do there.
7. What we promise, and what we do not
We work hard to get ApneaLab right, but we cannot promise that it is free of mistakes or always available. Nothing in these terms removes any right you have, or any responsibility we have, that cannot lawfully be excluded.
8. Changes and ending
We may change the app or these terms. Each new version of the terms is posted here with a new version number and date. If the app asks you to accept a new version, you accept it there. You can stop using ApneaLab at any time, and delete your account and data.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the law of the Philippines. If you live elsewhere, this does not take away the protection the consumer law where you live gives you.
